Northern Madagascar has been devastated by Cyclone Gamane, with officials confirming a toll of at least 11 fatalities and the destruction of countless homes.
Originally expected to bypass the island as it grazed the Indian Ocean, the cyclone veered off course, unleashing its fury on the Vohemar district in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
The storm killed 18 people and left four missing after making landfall on the north of the Indian Ocean island nation earlier this week, authorities said on Friday.
